Cabbage Bhaji/ Cabbage Sabzi/ Cabbage curry

This cabbage curry is an excellent choice when you want to make a healthy meal without much fuss. This vegan and gluten-free dish is easy to make but making it right and perfect needs some care. No ones like overcooked, soggy and mushy cabbage!

This cabbage curry is perfect in terms of flavor, crunch and taste. It is minimally spiced without overpowering spicy flavors. This dish is versatile and you can play around with your favorite veggies and spices too.


  • 1tbsp oil
  • 1/2kg cabbage
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2tsp garam masala
  • 4 to 6 curry leaves
  • 1 Onion (medium size)
  • 1/2cup tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1tsp red pepper powder
  • 1tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4cup channa dal( Soaked )
  • 1tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1tsp green chillies
  • Coriander leaves

How to cook

Heat oil in a pot, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds make tgem splutter. Now add onions saute it for 3 to 5 minutes. Now add curry leaves and turmuric powder, Coriander powder, red pepper powder and ginger garlic paste in it.

Give a nice mix and add dal add 1/2 cup water and salt cook gor 10 to 15 minutes on low flame until the oil separates. Now add tomatoes and cabbage.

Mix it well and close the lid. Cook it for 20 min on minimum flame. Check the tenderness of dal and cabbage. If it is cooked properly turn off the flame. Garnish with coriander.
