
Dal Palak/ Spinich Dal
winter special fresh spinach (palak) is both a different and nutritious way of including dal in your diet. This Dal Palak is one of the most popular Lentil Recipes in Indian cuisine. There are many ways of making Dal Palak.
In this post, I have shared the no tomato, no variation of the Dal Palak. This delicious recipe without tomatoes added to it, is a very simple and easy one and won’t take much of your time.
Onions and garlic have a strong flavor. There are no heavy spices like garam masala added in this preparation.
Ingredients
1tbsp oil
1large onion (chopped)
2tsp ginger grated
1cup spinich
1cup yellow lentils(moong dal)
2 tsp green chillies
2 cup water
Salt to taste
FOR TADKA
2 green chillies slit
4 cloves garlic Julian
1tsp asafoetida (heeng)
How to cook
Heat oil in a pot add onions ans saute for 3 to 5 minutes. Make them translucent, now add chopped ginger and spinich sautéed it for couple of minutes.

Add yellow lentils (washed moong dal) saute a little and add green chillies, water and salt and mix it well. Close the lid and cook for 15 to 20 minutes.

Check the consistency.
For tadka add oil in a pan fry garlic,chillies, fr until it turned in to golden brown, now add asafoetida (heeng) and pour it in to the dal. And close the lid instantly.

You can serve and relish Dal Palak with roti, chapatis, phulka, parathas or steamed basmati rice. They also pair well with Jeera Rice and Ghee Rice and some stuffed chillies( bharwa mirchi) you can find the recipe if stuffed chillies here too.
