Khichra /Haleem /Daleem

“I love haleem, both haleem and which are made with similar ingredients. In which, the chunks of meat remain as cubes, while in haleem the meat cubes are taken out of the pot, bones are removed, and the meat is crushed and put back in the pot. It is further cooked until the meat completely blends with the lentils, wheat, and barley mixture.

What is haleem.

Haleem is a savory porridge made with meat, wheat, and lentils. A traditional favorite in India, this wholesome one-pot meal is amazingly delicious and nutritious.

How to cook the beef.

Firstly, in a pressure cooker, heat the oil add onion makes them crispy brown, and add the beef chunks, red pepper, salt, turmeric powder, and ginger garlic paste. Also, add little water(1 glass approx…), and mix well. and cook the beef until it is tender.

Cook the dals

Take a pressure cooker, into it, add wheat, add urad dal, add toor dal, masoor dal, add chana dal, add yellow moong dal add rice and turmeric powder, and salt as per taste. Add about 3 glasses of water. pressure cook until the dals get soft.

Mix the cooked beef and dals.

In a separate cooking pot, add oil, add 4 medium size sliced onions and fry until golden brown. Add the blended paste of dals and mix without lumps. and also add the beef to it. Mix it well and keep stirring, mixing until the beef and dal paste gets mixed well and evenly without lumps. Put in some fresh coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilies, and chopped ginger, and mix well. Cook for 20 minutes on high flame. Switch off the flame. Do the plating and garnish with fried onions, coriander, mint leaves, and lemon and it’s done..khichra is ready.

INGREDIENTS


For cooking beef:

750 gms boneless beef/meat cleaned and washed well
2teaspoon red pepper powder
1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste

½ teaspoon turmeric powder

3-4 small cinnamon sticks

4 cloves 

2-3 green cardamom

salt – to taste

1 cup water 200 ml approx…

For cooking dals
½ cup  wheat
1 teaspoon mash ki dal/urad dal split black gram
1 teaspoon toovar dal pigeon peas
1 teaspoon chana dal bengal gram/chick pea gram
1 teaspoon yellow moong dal

Masoor daal
1 teaspoon rice
salt – to taste
3 glasses water
Other ingredients needed while mixing meat and dals:
3 tablespoon oil
4 medium size onions finely sliced
1 teaspoon chopped ginger
½ bunch of freshly chopped coriander leaves
½ bunch of freshly chopped mint leaves
2 slit green chillies

Ingredients for garnishing:
Freshly chopped coriander leaves
Freshly chopped mint leaves
5-6 lemons cut into 4 halves

Serve khichra in bowls, in each bowl, add coriander leaves, mint leaves, lemon slices, and serve hot.Delish¡¡

Tips:
If you are cooking haleem/daleem follow the same recipe but for haleem cook the meat until it leaves the bones remove the bones and blend the meat, make it a paste. You can use a blender to make a paste or cook it for 1 to 2 hours. For extra flavors use ghee.
