What is okra good for?

Is okra a Superfood?

Okra is considered a superfood. It is a high-fiber food rich in vitamins and minerals. Dietitians consider it as a cholesterol-lowering food as well. Okra contains a component called mucilage, which becomes a natural thickener when it’s heated.


  • 1/2kg okra/bhindi
  • 1tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1tsp coriander powder
  • 1tsp red pepper powder
  • 1 onion small size
  • 5-8 garlic cloves chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Dry mango powder ( amchur powder)
  • 1tsp lemon juice
  • 1tsp green chili chopped

Heat oil in a pan add onions saute for 3 to 6 minutes make them translucent, now add okra( bhindi) fry it for 5 minutes then add salt, turmeric powder, Coriander powder ,red pepper powder Chopped garlic and green chillies.


Give a nice mix to it. Cove it for 10 minutes until the okra( bhindi) cooked completely.

Now add dry mango powder ( amchur powder) in it,and add lemon juice. Serve hot.
